- India proposed the establishment of the G-20 Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group during its G-20 presidency in 2023, making it the first of its kind.
- India emphasised five priorities:
- Early warning systems,
- Disaster-resilient infrastructure,
- Financing for disaster risk reduction,
- Resilient recovery
- Nature-based solutions.
- A consensus was reached at the meeting for the first ministerial declaration on disaster risk reduction, with India’s active participation.
Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015-2030) It is a global UN agreement focused on reducing disaster risks and enhancing resilience to disasters.
